Paul Troy Successfully Defends Attending Physician

In a medical malpractice trial in Philadelphia, Paul Troy successfully defended an internist who was the attending physician for a patient who was ultimately diagnosed with a spinal epidural abscess. The patient then suffered for several weeks before dying in another hospital, and the suit alleged a delay in diagnosis of the abscess causing paralysis and ultimately death. The Co-Defendant hospital entered into a $500,000/$1,000,000 high/low agreement. No offer was extended on behalf of the attending physician. After eight days of trial a jury unanimously returned a verdict in favor of the attending physician finding no negligence and also found by an 11-1 vote no negligence by the hospital.
