
William H. Pugh, V Named Bar Foundation President

Following a successful term as President of the Montgomery Bar Association (MBA) for 2006, William H. Pugh V, Esq. has recently been named President of the Bar's chartitable arm, the Montgomery Bar Foundation. The installation took place at the MBA's Annual Business Meeting at the Blue Bell Country Club--an annual event which included the ceremonial passing of the gavel, an awards presentation and election of future bar leadership.
Mr. Pugh is the managing partner of Kane, Pugh, Knoell, Troy & Kramer LLP and a longstanding member of the MBA. He is a 1986 graduate of Villanova University School of Law. Mr. Pugh focuses his practice primarily in the area of medical malpractice defense. He frequently serves as a mediator and arbitrator in a wide variety of litigation matters.
During Mr. Pugh's year as President, the MBA made great strides in areas of public outreach and community service. Mr. Pugh hopes to continue his legacy as President of the Montgomery Bar Foundation.
As a Bar Leader, Bill V has followed closely in the path of his father, William H. Pugh IV, a pillar of the Greater Philadelphia legal community who also served a successful term as Montgomery Bar President in 1995. He has served on the Board of Directors and as a past the Editor of the Montgomery County Law Reporter. Mr. Pugh is also active in the Montgomery County Trial Lawyers Association, where he recently served a term as President and is currently a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association House of Delegates. He is a past Chairman of the Professional Liability Committee of the Pennsylvania Defense Institute and is the current State liaison to the Professional Liability Section of DRI. Bill is also member of the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Pennsylvania Defense Institute and the Defense Research Institute.
About the Montgomery Bar Foundation
The Montgomery Bar Foundation (MBF) is the charitable arm of the Montgomery Bar Assocation. On February 9, 1987, the Foundation received approval from the Internal Revenue Service to officially become a non-profit 501 (c)(3) organization. The overall goal of the Foundation is to assist law-related educational, charitable, and humanitarian projects throughout Montgomery County. Grants given by the Foundation have been used by recipients to serve the elderly, homeless, victims of domestic violence, troubled and underprivileged youths, and many other individuals and families in need. The Board of Directors of the Foundation is comprised of Montgomery Bar Assocation members along with other Montgomery County community leaders elected by Montgomery Bar Assocation membership.
