Ruth Atomate is an Associate at Kane, Pugh, Knoell, Troy & Kramer LLP. She previously served as a Summer Associate with the firm, where she worked on general and professional liability cases. Ruth’s current practice focuses on defense litigation, with an emphasis on medical malpractice, professional liability, and general liability cases.
Ruth earned her B.A. in Political Science from York University in Toronto, Ontario. Before law school, she gained significant legal experience interning for a sole practitioner family law firm, where she assisted with custody, divorce, and protection from abuse cases.
Following this experience, Ruth graduated from Penn State Dickinson Law. During her law school tenure, she further developed her legal skills while interning for Judge John M. Gallager of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. She was also 1L Mock Trial Champion and served as the Chief Executive Officer of the National Moot Court Team. In addition, Ruth served as a Pardon Coach for the Philadelphia Lawyers for Social Equity (“PLSE”) and spent a semester of her 1L year assisting previously incarcerated individuals in navigating the pardon process.
In her 2L and 3L years, Ruth externed with U.S. District Attorneys Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, where she gained a deeper understanding of the criminal justice system while developing her analytical and advocacy skills. She also externed with the Civil Litigation Division of the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, assisting with litigation representing the Commonwealth and its agencies in matters involving constitutional challenges, employment law, and state program oversight.
Ruth is licensed to practice in Pennsylvania and is a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association.
In her free time, Ruth enjoys traveling, yoga and spending time with her family, friends, and dog, Vanyé.
